Centenary celebrations at Upper Orara

UPPER Orara Hall may not look it, but it is about to turn 100.

The popular community country hall will celebrate its centenary on October 5, with an open day from 10am to 4pm.

There will be a quilting exhibition hosted by the valley's Monday Funday quilters and the Karangi Vintage Farm Machinery Museum will have its working machinery on show.

The Orara Valley RFS Fire Brigade will have an open day in the fire shed next door to the hall and organisers hope there will be activities in the garden and it is hoped historic All Saints' Church at Upper Orara, also next door, will be open for viewing.

There will be morning and afternoon teas and lunches and a display of historic photographs and memorabilia of events and activities at the hall.

Monday, which is a public holiday, will also see the hall open and the quilters at work. Doug Hoschke said organisers wanted to invite everyone to visit.
