Casino Swoop early favourite to win Sunday's Pink Silks Cup

CASINO Swoop, a shock last start failure at Warwick Farm, will be out to redeem himself with trainer Colt Prosser when he steps out in the Pink Silks Cup at Coffs Harbour on Sunday.

The five-year-old gelding had his first run since being purchased from a Patinanck Farm dispersal sale by Prosser when scoring a strong win over 1000m at Taree on December 9 following a 227-day spell.

On the strength of that win Prosser sent the gelding to Warwick Farm over 1200m on December 24 but Casino Swoop finished 7.4 lengths last to Selectify pulling up with a poor post-race recovery.
Prosser had the gelding thoroughly vetted and bold samples were taken.

"His blood was perfect and the vets couldn't find anything wrong with him," Prosser revealed. "Maybe the first up run took more out of him than I thought.

"It was a shame to go all the way to Sydney to put in an effort like that.

"He had a long drive to Sydney with the holiday traffic and it was a hot day but I can't really put my finger on what happened to make him race like he did.

"I gave him a week off and his work since has been fantastic.

"I gave him a good gallop on Tuesday and it was nice, strong work.

"Peter Graham got off him and said he feels fantastic.

"We'll just have to wait and see how he goes on Sunday."

Prosser purchased Casino Swoop after previously purchasing his half-sister Reorganise, who won three from 11 starts for Prosser, at an earlier Patinack sale.

"I haven't had him all that long and to be honest I'm still working him out," Prosser said. "Other than the shocker in Sydney he's been going great.

"I can't fault him.

"I'm just hoping his previous run was a one off thing. He won very well at Taree first up.

"Hopefully he bounces back to his best on Sunday. I've kept him on the fresh side which I think he likes."

Graham takes the mount, Casino Swoop to carry 58.5kg from barrier seven.
