GET your motors running for the Tweed Valley Vehicle Restorers Club rally.

More than 100 classic cars from motor clubs around south-east Queensland and northern New South Wales will gather at the Tweed River Jockey Club on April 30 for the two-day event.

Secretary Stuart Irving and the proud owner of a 1973 Chevrolet Camaro said this would be the club's 29th annual rally.

“It's a huge event each year and it is very exciting. Cars must 30 years old to be included and there will be vehicles from as far back as the 1920s,” he said.

The public is welcome to view the cars before they leave to tour the Tweed country side.

But don't expect any rivalry between enthusiasts like Kevin Sparks and Ramon Alcock, who each own a Holden 1970 HG Premier and 1965 XP Falcon sedan respectively.

“No I look at it this way, I don't care what it is, I just think it is great they are still going,” Mr Sparks said.

The love affair with his pale blue Holden began more than 21 years ago.

“I used to be a bus driver and I drove past this used car yard every day and it wasn't on the lot, but I used to think gee that is a good looking car,” Mr Sparks said.

“So I brought it and it's been a reliable old thing it's only stopped once in all these years.”

Tweed Valley Vehicle Restorers Club meets every Sunday. For more information phone 0755233787.
