Car park confusion at Coffs Health Campus
A VOLUNTEER at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus has faced a parking debacle in the new car park after it opened on Monday.
Trevor Billon, a volunteer with the Leukaemia Foundation, was locked in the car park after driving a group of people to a support session at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
As a volunteer, Trevor is entitled to a validated concession parking ticket.
After acquiring the validated ticket, he discarded his first ticket only to realise at the boom gate he needed to present both tickets.
As a result, Trevor was locked in the car park causing a bit of a delay until a parking assistant came to his aid.
The retired local said he wasn't given an explanation as to how to process his validated ticket nor was there any signage to explain how to do so.
"There's just nothing to tell you how the system operated (for those eligible for a validated ticket)," Mr Billon said.
"I've spoken to other people who volunteer (at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus) and they often wonder how it works."
A spokeswoman for the Mid North Coast Local Health District said the health campus was following up with the Leukaemia Foundation to ensure it had all the information it needed to enable its drivers to access the campus without charge.
