Capturing nature’s beauty becomes an exhibition worth seeing
CALIN Borbeli's life and work is now light years away from his upbringing in inner-city Bucharest and career as a civil engineer.
Seeking change and adventure, he arrived in Australia in 2001, with no contacts and less English. Within a few years he had established himself in a civil engineering role in a Sydney firm but the beauty of the Australian natural environment inspired a passion for capturing it on camera.
Calin began by teaching himself, but later was able to learn directly from well known photographers like Ken Duncan and Peter Eastway, among others.
In January 2014, Calin, his wife Lauren and their two daughters left Sydney for Bellingen. Living within easy reach of deserted pristine beaches, rolling green farmland, crystal clear rivers and the beautiful plateau with its waterfalls, lush rainforest and constantly changing skies, has continued to inspire him and his passion now is to bring those landscapes and moments into his own home and the homes and workplaces of others. He shares his interest and skills through one on one and group photography courses for the novice through to advanced photography, and including photo editing and processing.
Lately his favourite shooting locations have been the Wenonah Headland, Gleniffer with its majestic mountains and capturing the misty Dorrigo rainforest. He has won multiple international and local awards for his landscape photography.
Calin has become an active member of the Bellingen fine art community, with gallery exhibitions of his works for viewing and sale coming up at Bellingen Framing and Gallery, 44 Hyde St, Bellingen November 4-30. He is also a member of the Nexus Community Gallery and will be opening his own gallery in the near future. His work can be viewed at calinborbeli.com
