Cannabis haul in Bellingen

A BELLINGEN man has been charged with cultivating a prohibited plant and possessing a prohibited drug, after police found a large amount of cannabis at a Bellingen residence on Monday.

Police executed a search warrant on premises at Lyons Street at Bellingen about 9.20am on Monday, during which they located about 160 cannabis plants and 3.5 kilograms of dried cannabis leaf.

They also found an amount of prohibited fireworks.

A 35-year-old Bellingen man has been issued with a court attendance notice in relation to the incident.

Coffs/Clarence crime manager detective inspector Cameron Lindsay said police will now analyse the drugs and put the results before the court.

“We'd also like to take this opportunity to remind people that fire explosives are prohibited in New South Wales,” inspector Linsday said.
