Canberra raids Super League again
IF you consider how good Josh Hodgson and Elliott Whitehead have been for Canberra, then fellow English recruit Jordan Turner could be another revelation from the Old Dart at the Green Machine next year.
Turner has signed with the Raiders for two seasons, starting next year.
The 27-year-old is playing for St Helens in the English Super League and has played more than 200 first-grade matches for Salford, Hull FC and St Helens.
An outside back, Turner also has the ability to cover multiple positions including the back row and five-eighth.
He is also a former England under-18s Academy captain.
English internationals Hodgson and Whitehead have been outstanding at Canberra, and Raiders recruitment manager Peter Mulholland believes Turner can also fire in the chilly nation’s capital.
“Jordan is an extremely talented and experienced player. He has previously played alongside Sia Soliola at St Helens to win a premiership in 2014,” Mulholland said.
Turner has the belief he can do just that.
“I’ve been watching the Raiders closely this year because of the move. I know it’s going to be quite tough for me to break into the team. The centres are pushing for Origin, the back row is great and the halves are going really well,” he said.
“(But) I can pretty much play anywhere. I’m just going to train hard and make the most of my chance.”
