Camerons Cnr back in focus

THE Roads and Traffic Authority is to again investigate options for potential improvements on the Waterfall Way from Raleigh Dam to Camerons Corner.

The previous project, known as Camerons Corner, was placed on display in 2009. As a result of community submissions, the RTA deferred work.

An RTA spokesperson said as part of this new and broader project, the RTA will look at ways of minimising the impact on the environment, including the wetland on the southern side of the road at Camerons Corner.

“Initial discussions have been held with Bellingen Shire Council. The RTA will be consulting stakeholders and the community in developing this project, and will keep the community informed during developments,” the spokesman said.

“It is important to plan now for future improvements to the road,” he said.

The project involves looking at improving the road alignment and flood immunity, while minimising the impact on the environment and community.

The RTA said further information would become available to the community in the near future. Further inquiries can be made through the project manager, Roy Marsh, on 131 782.
