Calm down, Banksy has not been arrested

EVERYONE calm down. It's not true.

Reports that the ridiculously rich street artist Banksy has been arrested are entirely false.

The misunderstanding was caused when National Report described how the artist, who has kept his identity secret, is really Paul Horner, a 35-year-old born in Liverpool.

Unfortunately for those waiting for this big reveal, you will have to wait a little longer.

The Independent is reporting that the National Report is a satirical, or fake, news website.

The National Report's other headlines include: White House to be Painted Green for 'Earth Month', and Charlie Sheen's 'Tiger Blood' Might Hold Cure for Ebola.

In 2013, a separate fake press release made similar claims.

And then, just like now, it wasn't particularly amusing.

Banksy's reputation for social commentary through his often-stencilled street art has grown increasingly sought after.

His artwork in Melbourne laneways was a drawcard for tourists until one piece was destroyed by another artist, while the other was accidentally destroyed by council cleaners.
