Call for govt cash grants for victims

COFFS Harbour MP Andrew Fraser has called on the State Government to provide assistance, by way of cash grants, to property owners and primary producers who have been adversely affected by this week's devastating flood.

“I inspected a number of properties today and observed major damage to access roads and bridges as well as the destruction of numerous rural fences,” Mr Fraser said.

“Whilst there is assistance available under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery arrangements, this is by way of loans, and many of these property owners and primary producers are still cleaning up after the previous flood.

“I have written to the Minister for Emergency Services, the Hon Steve Whan.”
