Flood inquiry centre taking calls

A public Information Inquiry Centre (PIIC) has been opened to take calls from the public about the flood-affected areas in northern NSW.

Members of the public can contact the information inquiry centre on 1800 227 228.

Flooding is occurring in the state's north and northwest from the Clarence and Macintyre rivers and is affecting several townships including Tenterfield.

The State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) is currently operating from the Sydney Police Centre to co-ordinate whole-of-government support to the State Emergency Service. Local Emergency Operations Centres will be established as required.

For emergency flood and storm assistance the public can contact the SES on 132 500 or visit their website www.ses.nsw.gov.au.

Roads throughout the area are being affected and motorists are urged to check with the RTA with the via their website www.rta.nsw.gov.au or contact local councils.

For all other emergencies, the public is advised to contact 000.
