Butcher goes pink for a cause

THE Little Butcher in Kingaroy's Shoppingworld will look a little different than normal this week.

Owner and butcher, Clinton Stretton, wife Brenda, and their team have decorated the store in a sea of pink to raise awareness and funds for breast cancer research.

"We have biscuits for sale made by the Endeavour Foundation, we are accepting donations and we will even have pink sausages," Mr Stretton said.

300 butchers from around the country will participate in this year's Pink Butcher event after it became a nationwide event in 2017.

"There is a butcher down south whose wife died of breast cancer, he originally had the idea," Mr Stretton said.

This is the second year The Little Butcher has been involved in the cancer fundraising event, which has directly affected Mr Stretton's family.

"Several members of our family have had cancer," he said.

"Unfortunately a lot of people have been affected, there was a lady who came in yesterday who shared her story and made a donation."

The popular butcher said he was confident the pink sausages would be a big hit this year.

"We attempted to make them last year but they didn't go quite to plan," Mr Stretton said.

"This year we are going to nail it."

The Little Butcher will be accepting donations for the Pink Butcher event from Monday, October 15 to Saturday, October 20.
