Bull hunts more glory against best

PADDLING: She's in the midst of a tough juggling act, but Alyssa Bull is still hopeful of ticking all the boxes towards donning the green and gold once again on the world stage.

As well as being a full-time firefighter, the Rio Olympian embraces an intense training regime on the water to take her kayaking skills to new heights.

It's paying off, with Bull claiming the women's single ski gold at the Lifesaving World Championships last month.

She backed that up a week later by winning the women's K2 500 alongside fellow Coaster Alyce Burnett in the Canoe Sprint Grand Prix at West Lakes in Adelaide.

She also placed fourth in the open K1 500, a race in which Burnett took victory.

"It's always tough for me to juggle (between work and kayaking) and I have to be careful with the extra fatigue that puts on me,” Bull said.

The Australian team for this year's world cup events and championships is set to be selected in March.

Bull was hopeful she could stay on track to be in the mix for selection for the events, which will be crucial stepping stones towards the 2020 Olympics. "I'd love to be part of it,” she said.

Bull is the Sunshine Coast Sports Federation's senior sport star of December.
