PLUCKY: Chris Shermer is performing in the Coffs, Woolgoolga and Moonee region from tonight.

CHRIS Shermer's musical roots are as diverse as his style.

With his technical musical education coming from the school of life, Chris was playing in the streets of Australia, Europe and America as a 16-year-old, and later studied at the London Guitar Institute, Vienna Conservatory, and the Graz University of Music.

The Aussie expat spends much of his time playing his brand of percussive finger-style acoustic guitar across Europe, and he has lived in England, Sweden, Australia and Austria, where he is now based.

He's come back to Australia this summer to bring his folk and blues-influenced music to the east coast, playing a number of shows on the Coffs Coast in January.

Chris has toured with and supported international artists including Ben Harper, Xavier Rudd, Donavon Frankenreiter, Jonathan Jeremiah and Wallis Bird.

His songs Everywhere and Smalltown Graveyard have become alternative radio hits in several European countries.

In 2010 Chris Shermer released the self-produced album Diamonds From Demons, available for download on Amazon.com.

THE GIGS

See Chris Shermer perform at the Hoey Moey on January 1,; Moonee Beach Tavern on January 2; Seaview Tavern on January 4; and back at Moonee on January 9.
