SHE carried the Australian flag at the opening ceremony and yesterday Torah Bright kept our flag flying high by winning the gold medal in the women’s snowboard halfpipe at the Winter Olympics.
Bright recovered from a bad start after falling over during her first run on Cypress Mountain to finish first with a score of 45.0.
A pair of Americans took the minor medals, with Hannah Teter taking silver on 42.4 and Kelly Clark winning bronze with a score of 42.2.
“I knew how to do what I was about to go and do, so it was just a matter of having fun,” Bright told the Nine Network.
Bright’s fellow Australian Holly Crawford finished eighth in the final with a score of 30.3.
