Break-in foiled in Coffs leading to early morning foot chase

POLICE became involved in a foot chase in Bray Street, Coffs Harbour, around 1am Sunday morning.

A resident alerted officers after observing three youths acting suspiciously at the nearby shopping centre.

While police were on their way the youths tried to force open the front door of one of the businesses but had no luck, and then moved to attempt a break-in at the rear.

The arrival of a patrol unit caused them to flee and officers chased them in the direction of the PCYC.

Unfortunately, they ran into scrub land and were not able to be apprehended.

Witnesses described the juveniles as younger teenagers but further details are sketchy as they were wearing hoodies.

Members of the public with information should call Crimestoppers on 1300 333 000.
