IT was of course the obvious venue.
When master tree grower Rowan Reid launched the 88th Australian Master Tree Growers program here, it had to be at the magnificent Coffs Harbour Botanic Garden.
Some 27 farmers and landholders signed up for the course, which runs weekly through June and July.
Mr Reid, the creator of the MTG course, was a senior lecturer in Farm Forestry at the School of Resource Management, University of Melbourne for 20 years, and developed the national Master Tree Grower program.
He encourages farmers to investigate all options for small-scale agroforestry for their farms, whether for shelter belts, windbreaks, on-farm timber, commercial timber or other products like honey production, seed orchards or simply to maintain biodiversity.
The Master Tree Grower Program focuses on the development of farm forestry and native vegetation management.
The program does not promote particular species, products or management options.
The current course is being partnered by Mid North Coast Farm Foresters, inquiries John Ross 6654 4373.
