Bookmakers say Hogan in trouble

THE latest bookies' markets have the Coalition firming to its shortest odds since the election was called.

In the seat of Page both the sitting Nationals Member Kevin Hogan

and his ALP main rival Janelle Saffin were both drifting with Mr Hogan softening to $3.75 from $3.50 and Ms Saffin at $1.25 from $1.17.

The Greens Kudra Falla-Ricketts has come into $26 from $51.

Meanwhile, Kevin Hogan is encouraging people to have a bet on him after reading the latest bookies' odds on his chances of holding onto his seat of Page in Saturday's Federal election.

Both Sportsbet and the TAB have The Nationals' sitting member Mr Hogan moving out from $1.80 to $3.50 and the ALP's Janelle Saffin firming as the $1.27 favourite.

Mr Hogan said bookies have been struggling to judge voting trends in recent times.

"They got it totally wrong last week with the Brexit vote," he said. "They were scrambling to change the odds once the polls closed and the counts started to come in.

"They also got it wrong with me in 2013."

Mr Hogan said the ReachTEL polling last week, commissioned by the NSW Teachers Federation, was predictably in favour of the Labor Party.

The polling of 647 residents conducted on June 20 put Labor ahead 54-46% two party preferred.

"It's generally the way with these polls they reflect the views of the people who commission them," he said.

Sportsbet also had The Greens' Kudra Falla-Ricketts moving out to $51 from $26.

Liberal Democrat (Mark Ellis) $51, Christian Democratic Party (Bethany McApline) $101 and Animal Justice Party (Anna Clare Ludvik) $151, were all unchanged.

Nationally The Coalition is the front runner all the its lead has tightened marginally.

Over the weekend the TAB moved the Coalition from $1.13 to $1.16. Labor has moving in from $6 to $5.25.
