Bookies rate Erinsea top local hope

THE early markets for Thursday's Carlton Mid Coffs Harbour Gold Cup sees bookmakers rate the Brett Dodson trained Erinsea as the best hope for a local win.

TAB Sportsbet have Erinsea as the equal second favourite for the big race offering odds of $7.

The experienced Youthful Jack, who could take his stakes earnings over the $1 million mark with a win on Thursday, has been installed as the $4.60 race favourite despite having to carry eight more kilos than the majority of the field.

The Coffs Harbour trio of One Lickety Split, Save A Buck and Toucan Ukelele have all been rated as $17 chances of victory.

Local trainer Peter Goodenough also has a starter in the big race with Geronimo Jack but the Umatilla gelding is rated an outsider in the field at odds of 50-1.

Bondit is an emergency for the Gold Cup and the Joe Janiak trained gelding is an unlikely starter. Bondit hasaccepted for a start on Wednesday and is at fixed odds of 100-1 to win Thursday's feature event.
