Bonville proves a favourite golfing destination

MEMBERS and staff at Bonville Golf Resort have been celebrating this week.

A poll conducted by Golf Australia Magazine to find Australia 50 favourite golf courses has been finalised and Bonville has been named at the top of that list.

To top it off, the Golf Course Guide by Ausgolf released its annual list of the top 100 courses in the country that are available for green fee players most of the year and for the first time, Bonville has made it into the top-10.

In the Golf Australia Magazine poll, Bonville received nearly three times as many votes as the runner-up Barnbougle Dunes in Tasmania and the third placed Kingston Heath.

The magazine said a favourite course isn't necessarily about being "the best" in a traditional sense but it's a course that makes you smile at the enjoyment that you're about to encounter standing at the first tee.

"We're thrilled that the Australian golfing public has chosen Bonville as their favourite course," Bonville Golf Resort's general manager Brad Daymond said.

"For the past 15 years the Bonville team have been working on incremental improvements to all aspects of the property to ensure a very high quality Bonville experience for all of our guests.

"Topping the list for passionate everyday golfers as their favourite place to play is a great outcome. It's extremely rewarding to know that we have Australia's number one golfing destination right here on The Coffs Coast."

The accolades round out a great year for the resort, amassing awards across restaurant and catering and weddings categories as well as securing the title as Australia's most beautiful mainland golf course for the 16th year running.

"Bonville celebrates its 25th birthday in early January and what a great award to win on the eve of such a milestone," Daymond said.
