Bogged rescuers needed rescuing

A BULLDOZER was yesterday brought in to retrieve a police vehicle and another car which had become stuck on a bush track south-west of Bellingen.

According to the SES, which was in charge of the retrieval operation, a 4WD police vehicle from Dorrigo and an SES truck from Bellingen entered the Gladstone State Forest late on Wednesday after a couple with a young child called to say their car was bogged in deep mud.

Police say neither the SES truck or police vehicle could pull the car from the quagmire and as darkness fell the police officers couldn’t turn around or reverse their vehicle because of the treacherous conditions.

A second police vehicle carried the family and the Dorrigo officers back to Bellingen and the SES returned yesterday to retrieve both vehicles.

Late yesterday a bulldozer was being used to complete the SES salvage mission.
