Blokes are lining up for beauty treatments to look good

THINK your hubby's chest is as white as the moon at night?

Or perhaps his eyebrows look more like two caterpillars crawling across his face.

Well then, why not encourage him to join the growing number of Bundy blokes who are unashamedly enjoying personal grooming just as much as their female counterparts?

Bundy "manscapers" are treating themselves to a facial peel or a style cut, and aren't afraid of getting their kit off for a spray tan or full body wax, although they are yet to go as far as some of their metropolitan counterparts in having everything - yes everything - tanned, leaving nothing to the imagination.

Vanessa Morgan, the owner of Vanessa Morgan Skin Management Centre, says men look after themselves just as much as women do.

"It's all to do with look good, feel good," she said.

"It started with men about 10 years ago and in the past five years it's stepped up."

The beauty expert said full body waxing and facial treatments were popular among Bundy blokes.

"Society has changed a lot in the way we don't like a lot of hair on men," she said.

She said many men inquired about, and received, full body spray tans.

"It's not just the business man, it's usually sporting people," she said.

"We can sculpt (the tan) to make it look like you've got a six pack.

"If you're brown you look slimmer."

First-year apprentice hairdresser Luke Brandt knows first-hand the importance of maintaining his personal appearance.

"I have to for my job," he said. "I get my hair cut and coloured and I style it every day."

Mr Brandt, who also gets his eyebrows waxed, said about 20 men came into the salon each day for a style cut.

"They are definitely picking up more of the personal grooming," he said.

"These days it's expected men have their hair done and they don't look like they've just come out of the bush."

Self-confessed manscaper, farmer and tradie Zeb Duke, 23, said his motives for taking extra special care of himself were for the opposite sex.

"I do it for the girls - you feel sexier," he said.

Mr Duke said he kept his body in shape by working out and eating well and using plenty of moisturiser.
