Board a boob bus

WOMEN in the Nambucca Valley without access to transport are being encouraged to take advantage of the new “Boob Bus”.

The bus is an initiative of Women’s Way, which has negotiated a block booking for breast screening at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus working with the local women’s health nurse, and is offering women assistance to get there.

Women’s Way co-ordinator Sharon Chamberlain said the boob bus would pick women up from various schools around the shire in the morning and return them by early afternoon.

“We are encouraging women to catch the school bus to Macksville and Nambucca Heads public schools, where they will be met by the bus, starting in Macksville at 9.15am,” Ms Chamberlain said.

“The bus will also pick women up from Nambucca Plaza and the Valla Beach turn-off.

“The first boob bus will be on May 10.

“Our plan is to provide this service in the local area every six months.”

Bookings are essential and can be made at the Nambucca Valley Neighbourhood Centre on 6568 2305.

The project has been assisted by a grant from the NSW Ministry of Transport.
