The much-talked about half and five-eighth combination looked like it was gelling well as the players trained through a ball work session.

Having two key ball playing halfbacks on both sides of the ruck with quality line-breaking potential could prove a masterstroke for Daley.

"I'm excited for Mitch, he's earned it through his performances and that is what you want to see," coach Daley said.

"He is a guy I have a lot of time for. He is a guy everyone is excited to play with."

After a light run the Blues posed for an official team photo this afternoon and will meet with fans in the Coffs Harbour city centre from 4.30pm.

There's a real buzz in Coffs Harbour as the city plays host to its second series of State of Origin training camps.

Blues paraphernalia is said to be light on in sporting stores across the city, as fans are eager to get jerseys signed.
