THE Coffs Coast can lay claim to another Australian representative, with champion blind bowler Wayne Thomson set to represent his country at the World Blind Bowls Championships in England next year.

Thompson's national team call-up comes after a strong showing at the national championships in Brisbane last month, where he won gold in the men's and open singles divisions.

With his wife Lynne as his director, Thomson has claimed four national championships and can't wait to compete against the world's best.

"I have not been outside Australia to play bowls before so it will be a great experience," Thomson said.

"There were some tough competitors at the national championship and it definitely wasn't an easy event to win.

"I had a strong competition and clearly did enough to earn selection for the Australian team.

"Lynne and I will be out on the green as much as possible over the next 12 months preparing to give it our best shot."
