Billabong Girls Get Out There hits Coffs Coast

PARK Beach was buzzing yesterday, when the Billabong Girls Get Out There Tour hit the Coffs Coast.

The Girls Get Out There Tour, an annual event that has grown exponentially in the past five years, travels the east coast of Australia bringing together teenage girls for a day of fun and laughter.

So You Think You Can Dance stars Hilton Denis and Rhiannon Villareal joined world champion surfers and snowboarders at the event, teaching more than 100 Coffs Coast girls how to dance and surf.

Erin Frost, 10, won a prize for her enthusiasm in the freestyle dance section, and said she had an awesome day.

“My favourite part was probably learning the hip hop routine,” she said.

“It's been really good and fun - I would do it again.”

It was a similar story from 16-year-old Mandy Atkinson. “It's rad. It's pretty cool learning dance routines from Hilton and Rhiannon - you think of them differently 'cause they're famous, but they're just ordinary people. I would definitely do it again.”

Both Rhiannon and Hilton rated Coffs Harbour as one of their best destinations yet.

“The girls here picked up a really hard routine really quickly. It's good to see them so enthused,” said Rhiannon.

“It's great to see their confidence grow throughout the day - by the end almost all of the girls are dancing up on stage.”
