Bill wants to shout a beer

APPRECIATIVE Anzac Bill Owers would like to thank the mystery duo who bought him a few beers this week.

The Tobruk veteran, recently featured in the Advocate's special Anzac Day reports, turned up at his local for a middie earlier in the week and from behind the bar came a silver card with $20 inside.

It had been left for him by an unnamed air force cadet and his mum expressing their gratitude for his service to Australia.

“It would be nice to know who they were,” Mr Owers said.

Bar staff say they had never seen the woman in the Coffs Hotel before.

The card reads: “Dear Mr Owers, Thank you.

“We hope you enjoy a drink on us.

“Our sincere gratitude for your service.

“An Air force Cadet and his Mum.”

If you are the Air force Cadet or his Mum please contact the Coffs Coast Advocate on 6650 2951 so we can put you in contact with Mr Owers.
