Bikini to drive the message: slow down for horses
MARYBOROUGH'S Kasey Dietz has donned her bikini in an effort to remind road users to exercise caution when driving near horses and riders.
"Driver awareness is extremely important around horse on the roads as not all horses are as used to traffic as others," she said.
Mrs Dietz, who owns two horses, said it was easy for people to speed past a horse or beep their horn without realising that it could startle the animal.
"These things may not seem like much to humans, but to an animal whose first instinct is flight, you could seriously endanger the lives of the horse, rider and other drivers," Mrs Dietz said.
"We all have a right to use roads and when you think about it, horses were using roads, as such, long before cars were invented.
"We need to share our roads with respect from everyone on them towards each other.
"If you see a horse on the road, please think before you speed on past or beep your horn.
"A little courtesy costs you nothing."
