Big weekend at the velodrome

ONE of the biggest weekends on Coffs Harbour Cycle Club’s calendar has finally arrived.

With riders from all over the Northern region converging on the Coffs Harbour Cycle Complex at Toormina, the next two days of competition is sure to be hot.

This afternoon the action starts at 3.00pm with the track racing as all grades and the usual variety of events on the velodrome take place.

As fast as the pace will be today, it is during tomorrow morning’s criterium racing that the real action will take place.

The racing is part of the McDonald’s Northern Region Criterium Series which is why such a large throng of visitors have arrived to compete.

The prizemoney on offer tomorrow should make for some exciting finishes in all five grades.

The main event for the weekend will be the 40 minute A grade race around the fast but challenging criterium track where local hope Dan Alcock will be hoping to extend his lead in the A grade section after extremely impressive performances in the opening two rounds.

Those who are also looking to shine over the course of the weekend will be Aaron O’Grady, Nathan Chiswell and Sean Golding.
