Classic big sea action for Barney Miller
BIG seas provided plenty of thrills at the Barney Miller Charity Surf Classic at Sawtell main beach.
Speaking through his Facebook page, Barney said he was thrilled with another fantastic event.
"First day of competition was epic in the morning but then as the tide dropped and northerlies hit hard, it turned into gladiator pit with solid six-foot close-outs," he said.
"Friday night at the pub was another fun night, with Christian Patey and First Avenue rocking the place.
"We raised another couple of grand for beneficiary Max Lee, so thank you so much everyone for all your support."
Shaun Ward from Woolgoolga took the open men's trophy, while Gold Coaster Alyssa Lock was tops in the women's division.
Others on the prize list included Blair Mandall and Tiarni Dobbyn (Under-16 boy and girl), Jack Veale (Under-18 boy), Wayne Morrison (Over-28 men), Scott Schindler (Over-40 men) and Mark Williams (Over-50 men).
