Bid to host world qualifiers

COFFS Harbour Basketball has applied to host the Oceania qualification event for the 2011 under-19 men's and women's world championships.

The qualification event will take place next year with Australia and New Zealand already confirmed as definite starters.

The bid has been lodged with FIBA Oceania, and if successful, could mark the start of a plan to bring qualification events to Coffs Harbour on a regular basis.

FIBA Oceania conducts an international qualification event every year for either the senior men's and women's world championships, the under-19 and the under-17 world championships or the Olympic Games.

If successful with this and further bids, local fans can perhaps look forward to seeing an international series right on our home court every year in the foreseeable future.
