Beware of scams claiming to be government grants
THE Australian Competition and Consumer Commission recently issued a public warning notice about the conduct of Australian Business Funding Centre Pty Ltd.
Also known as the Australian Business Financing Centre, the company operates the website www.australian governmentgrants.org
According to the ACCC, the ABFC website and its sales representatives, purport to offer access to an online database of the Australian government grants and loans available to small businesses.
Business owners paid fees to access the database, only to find there were no suitable grants or were ineligible for grants listed.
The ACCC has encouraged small businesses to take care when assessing offers to help them obtaining government grants.
