Better solution

IN REPLY to an anonymous contributor (CCA 3/11 Thumbs down) who has unfairly cast aspersions on all op shops in Coffs Harbour.

If, as she states, she knows which shop is doing the wrong thing, then she should ring them and discuss it with them rather than taint all op shops.

We at St John's Op Shop, at our expense, send overstocked donated goods out of town to another charitable organisation, the Vinnies factory in Lismore, which in turn sends them overseas for needy people.

The majority of people who donate goods make sure it is in good order and condition and thus suitable for reuse.

Unfortunately some donations are unsuitable and we also foot the bill for their correct disposal.

We appreciate the clients who use our op shop and encourage new customers to visit our shop in McLean St to see our excellent selection of goods at cheap prices.

Our shop is run totally by volunteers and we appreciate the many positive comments we receive and thus found your thumbs down comments a disappointing method of solving your organisation's problems.

L. Miller (on behalf of St John's Op Shop Committee)
