Best Western Zebra is changing its stripes

THE Best Western Zebra Motel in Coffs Harbour has begun a major refit and refurbishment of the property.

The project will completely refit 26 of the 46 rooms with new carpet, paint, and all-new furniture including: large screen LCD TVs, Italian leather lounges and tables covered in white Kashmir marble.

New beds, side tables and a split system air-conditioning system will also be added, as well as a new high-speed internet system, which carries movies on demand.

The property's other 20 rooms were renovated six years ago at a cost of $3000 per room ($60,000 total).

This new renovation is budgeted at $13,461 per room ($350,000 total).

The owner and manager of the Best Western Zebra Motel, Chandra Singh, said work will focus on five to six rooms at a time to minimise disruption.

“We are using nearly all local contractors and we expect the work to be finished by the end of March,” Chandra said.

Following this stage of the renovation, Stage 2 of the project will commence, which will update all bathrooms.

This is expected to cost another $200,000 to $300,000 and will be followed by Stage 3, which will revamp the licensed restaurant and front office area.
