Letter to the Editor - September 6: Berry hard to live among

COFFS Harbour - land of the long, white ugly cobwebs.

While the blueberry industry is welcomed, the visual pollution of the cobweb-like netting which is spreading like a virus across our beautiful lush green rural and urban countryside is not compatible with our Coffs Harbour life-style or our valuable tourism industry.

Three problems must be addressed: planning to accommodate both rural urban living and blueberry farming; the colour of netting; and chemical sprays used in close proximity to schools and rural urban developments.

With proactive planning by the council instigating the necessary regulations for the blueberry industry, Coffs Harbour residents and our valuable tourism industry will continue to enjoy our beautiful clean, green environment, which will not be needlessly decimated by the self interest of one industry to the detriment of all others.
