Bellos 2BBB-FM is back on air

ALMOST a year after its signal was literally washed away, Bellingen’s community radio station 2BBB-FM will today be the centre of celebrations.

The iconic mud brick station at North Bellingen was inundated by floodwaters during the March 31 storm event.

The flooding caused extensive damage, ruined broadcast equipment and put the station off-air for some time.

But now that the premises has been fully refurbished it is today hosting an open day to give everyone a chance to find out more about the workings of this valued community asset.

After years of planning and lobbying 2BBB FM first went to air in September 1988.

Today’s open day runs from 11am to 4pm with a welcome to country and official proceedings at 1pm.

Admission will be via a gold coin donation and everyone who attends will have the chance to meet the station’s presenters and have their voice recorded for broadcast to the community.
