Bello road damage repairs in millions

THE total estimate for damages to Bellingen Shire Council roads is almost $4 million.

Bellingen Shire Council General Manager Mike Colreavy said that a list of other property, like parks and reserves, are still being tallied.

Mr Colreavy said that the RTA will not inspect the roads with council to agree on a price and begin repairs.

“We're talking months, not weeks,” Mr Colreavy said.“We'll be starting with the highest priority and work down.”

Waterfall Way received $650 515 worth of damage, while Kalang Road was damaged to the value of $884 702. Roads within the Bellingen township received $465 359 worth of damage.

Mr Colreavy said council will be paying around $20,000, and that council was very appreciative of Minster Steve Whan for his rapid declaration that Bellingen was a natural disaster zone.
