Bellingen Solar not to be eclipsed

OFF to a sunny beginning, Bellingen Solar is opening its new showroom in the heart of the town tomorrow.

With a wealth of renewable energy ideas on show including electric motorbikes, solar cookers and grey water storage systems, the space also features a huge screen tracking the energy produced and consumed by the business.

Owner Steve Doyle said three separate solar set-ups worked to meet the three phase energy needs of the business.

Another feature is the ‘help yourself’ edible garden outside the building, courtesy of the North Bank Community Garden.

Bellingen Shire’s alternative energy guru Martin Hogan will cut the ribbon at 11am and then immediately be upstaged by Bellingen’s greatest superhero Solar Active Man.

“Solar Active Man will appear on his electric motor cycle and do battle with the villain, Coal Fire Man – Sunny Boy will come to the rescue when things get hot,” Mr Doyle laughed.

There will also be live music, a free sausage sizzle and of course information on all aspects of alternative energy, including a special on LED lighting.

“The opening is our way of thanking our customers and let them know our new address.”
