Bears, Cods clash for vital early Risdon Cup points
THE 2016 Risdon Cup is at only the round three stage, but Condamine and Toowoomba Bears both have plenty to play for when they meet tomorrow at Heritage Oval.
Condamine has started the season on the front foot with back-to-back wins against USQ at home and Toowoomba Rangers at Gold Park last Saturday.
Bears likewise have kicked off the year in a positive fashion.
After offering strong resistance against reigning premiers Goondiwindi on the road two weeks ago before going down 15-6, Bears bagged the home points last week with a 50-0 win over Roma.
The opening results have Condamine sitting on eight premiership points with Bears just three behind.
The Cods can open an early season gap on the bottom half of the table with success today, while a win can clinch Bears a top-three position.
In other matches tomorrow, St George is at home to Goondiwindi, Roma hosts Rangers and USQ is on the road to Dalby.
