Beach runners to cover half marathon

LAST week's rain has led to a change to the run leg only of Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter's Coffs Coast Charity Walk to be held on Sunday.

The run will now cover the official half marathon distance of 21 kilometres and be called the Coffs Coast Charity Half Marathon.

The half marathon will start from the Moonee Beach Reserve at 8am and proceed to Lower Park Beach Reserve, across to the base of Muttonbird Island and return to finish at Lower Park Beach Reserve.

Events Coordinator with the Helicopter Kellie Pinkerton said there were safety access issues with the original route following the recent storm damage leading organisers to change the route.

"Runners will now have the challenge of a half marathon which we are sure they will be very enthusiastic about," Ms Pinkerton said"

Seh said said the Coffs Coast Charity Walk route, with 612 participants registered, is unchanged.

"The walk route has been thoroughly checked and there are no safety concerns."
