Be prepared for a great Dorrigo Ag Show

THE first instalment of this weekend's Dorrigo Agricultural Show kicks off tonight with the presentation of the Visual Art Prize Awards.

Then rain or shine, this Saturday and Sunday the rest of the jam-packed schedule unfolds.

A full horse program, a big vintage machinery display, a gourmet food hall with locally produced (mostly) delights, including coffee, Christmas puddings and potato wine, a champion dog show, goat and chicken judging and a Red Poll feature in the cattle judging are all in the mix. On the quirky side there will be displays of 'whip boxing' and a dog high-jump on Saturday and a 'very entertaining' three kids and three sheep competition on Sunday.

“It's where three kids chase three sheep around a course - everyone ends up pretty puffed at the end,” Show Society President Sally Duckett said.

The grand parade will begin at 2pm on Saturday with fireworks and the 'Freightliners' providing the evening fun.

On Sunday there's a fun run starting at 8.30am with three courses for adults through to under eights. The mega weekend will climax at 4pm with the Demolition Derby (sponsored by Aarvbee).

“We're praying for sun but if not, gumboots will fix that,” Mrs Duckett said. Entry is family $30 (four kids), adults $12, students/pensioners $6, children under six free.
