Barrage open for business with plenty of water flow
THE water is flowing in Rockhampton after the heavy falls in the past week, with the Fitzroy River Barrage and Eden Bann Weir both sitting at capacity.
The barrage is full with 75,000 ML and Eden Bann is the same, with 35,900 ML.
Meanwhile, the Mount Morgan No. 7 Dam is sitting at 67% capacity.
A spokesperson from Fitzroy River Water said the river was flowing fast.
"At the moment approximately 170,000 ML is passing through the barrage each day," they said.
"This is much lower than the peak flow during a major flood which could be 1,000,000 ML per day or higher.
"The Fitzroy River is expected to remain beneath the minor flood level during this flow event."
The weather is expected to clear up this week though, with Rockhampton's seven day forecast painting a much sunnier picture.
There is the possibility of showers today, Friday and Saturday but the rest is looking clear, with temps back in the mid-30s from Wednesday.
Yeppoon looks much the same, with showers possible Tuesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday but temps will sit in the low 30s, keeping the days fairly cool.
Between Sunday and Monday, Yeppoon received 4.8mm, but Rockhampton was not so lucky, with nothing recorded in the gauge.
The bureau is keeping an eye on "a weak slow-moving low pressure system", which is not expected to pose any threat to any part of the Queensland coast.
