Bargain butcher shop lease available for just $1

IN THE market for a bargain? What about a fully fitted out butcher, for just $1?

George Radley wants to get rid of his shop, McGill Meats, on Nebo Rd.

He's shut the doors already, but would hand over the keys as soon as today to any one interested.

Mr Radley has been in the shop for about one year, thinking he would follow in his family's footsteps into the business world.

While business was picking up, Mr Radley said he wasn't happy in the shop, so he wants to get rid of his lease to an interested buyer for the loose change price of one dollar.

Mr Radley said he was dreaming of a Thailand retirement, and the lease was all that was keeping him in Mackay, so he was keen for someone to take it on as soon as possible.

"I just thought if I sell everything in the shop and truck to someone for a dollar they will take over the lease," he said.

"At the moment, the shop's doing all right but I don't want to be in there."

Mr Radley said there were orders ready to go for whoever took it over, but the longer they waited the worse off the situation would be.

"There's probably about $20-30,000 worth of gear there," he said.

"The longer I stay away, the more orders they are going to lose, so they won't be walking into a dead end thing.

"There's actually nothing to spend, they could walk straight in and start trading... they've got all the orders and everything."

Mr Radley said he just didn't want to see the popular McGill Meats' name to disappear.

He said it would be a perfect situation for a business-minded person or someone on a cattle station wanting a shopfront for their meat.
