Bannerman leads Coffs brigade to a medal harvest

CLASS performer Daniel Bannerman made the switch to Masters Games swimming at the Pan Pacifics and picked up seven medals at his first attempt.

An elite open water swimmer and former Coolangatta Gold competitor, Daniel was the star recruit in the Coffs Harbour contingent making the trip to the Gold Coast.

Deanna Dick, Jamie Marschke, Hilary Young and Anthea Barnfield competed in the three-day carnival at the newly-built Southport Aquatic Centre.

In all, the Coffs crew won 12 gold, four silver and nine bronze medals.

The ladies broke seven local club records between them.

Daniel and Jamie then dived into Currumbin Creek for the 2.5km Open Water Classic.

First-timer Daniel took gold while the highly-experienced Jamie won silver in their age categories.
