Bandit on the run

HE brandished a crowbar and hit his target while most of us would have still been asleep.

The bandit is now on the run after a brazen raid at a Moonee Beach pharmacy at 5.50am on Monday. Investigators are now pinning their hopes on details gleaned from CCTV footage and an eyewitness to solve the case.

Police said the man smashed a window to gain entry to the premises and once inside he grabbed prescription drugs.

The robber fled in an older model white Holden Commodore and was last seen tearing north.

He is described as Aboriginal in appearance, wearing a bandanna over his face, a light blue/grey hoodie, knee-length denim shorts, white socks and white runners.

Elsewhere, police are on the trail of thieves who busted into Pilks Pine at Lowanna.

They broke into a workshed at the Cavanaghs Road sawmill by ripping off a masonite panel and rummaged through drawers some time between 6pm on Monday and 6am yesterday.

The intruders hauled off with power tools and hand tools, police said.

If you know anything about these raids, you are urged to contact Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
