Banana splits all round

THEY came for the bananas and stayed for the fun at The Banana Fest on the weekend.

Dark clouds above the Big Banana did nothing to dispel the crowds as they watched banana recipes being made, kids eating banana splits as fast they could and a range of entertainment from banana juggling to circus performances.

Big winners on the day was the Horan family from Nana Glen, with dad Terry, mum Karen, and kids Courtney and Joe entered into the competition by Terry's sister Marianne Norton.

The Horans were blown away by winning the Ultimate Adventure Package, which includes family passes to F1 Kart Hire, the Kegel Barn, the Butterfly House, Quadmania and Liquid Assets, as well as tonnes of other adventurous vouchers valued at more than $6000.

The Banana Fest organiser Aaron Newnham said the aim was to make the festival a key cultural event on the Coffs Coast.

“The festival creates a taste for all things local in the Coffs Harbour region,” Mr Newnham said.
