Bail following attack

A COFFS Harbour man, who allegedly stabbed a family member in the back with a pair of scissors during a heated row at a Toormina home earlier this month, has been granted conditional bail.

Otis Barney, 22, this week appeared in Coffs Harbour Local Court charged with wounding a person with intent to cause grievous bodily harm and causing malicious damage.

Police will allege Barney stabbed another man outside a Nariah Crescent home on March 2 about 9am.

The victim was treated at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus for what authorities described as a non life threatening puncture wound to his back. Detectives arrested Barney a short distance from the crime scene, roughly half an hour after he was seen walking in Alleena Drive.

A pair of scissors found on the roadway near the scene were retrieved as evidence.

He has been granted bail on strict conditions that he resides in Coffs Harbour.
