Bad day on court for five of our Aussie players
TENNIS: After the first two days at Wimbledon when seven Aussies made it through to the second round for the first time since 1999, day three was a reality check when all five of our contenders were eliminated.
Marinko Matosevic had been regarded as the best chance to reach the third round, but was beaten 6-7 7-6 7-6 6-4 7-5 by unseeded Frenchman Jeremy Chardy.
To make matters worse, Matosevic then backed up in the first round of the doubles with Colombia's Juan-Sebastian Cabal, the pair beaten 7-6 6-3 6-3 by the Aussie combination of Lleyton Hewitt and Chris Guccione.
Bernard Tomic put up a great fight against No.6 seed Tomas Berdych before losing 4-6 7-6 7-6 6-1, while Luke Saville lost to Grigor Dimitrov 6-3 6-2 6-4.
Casey Dellacqua was no match for No.4 seed Agnieszka Radwanksa, beaten 6-4 6-4, and Jarmila Gjadosova lost 6-3 4-6 6-3 to Portugal's Michelle Larcher De Brito.
