Backyard dope grower busted

A MAN will face court on drugs charges after police raided a Toormina home this week.

The Coffs/Clarence Target Action Group (TAG) swooped on the Bower Crescent home at 10.20am on Tuesday and found a man on the premises.

The man allegedly led police to a garden shed in the backyard where police seized 12 cannabis plants ranging in height from 20cm to 60cm growing under artificial lights.

Police also found a larger cannabis plant growing behind the shed.

Officers were then allegedly led to the laundry where they found 432 grams of cannabis.

A man, 39, will appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on charges of cultivating a prohibited plant and possessing a prohibited drug.

Police are urging Coffs Coast residents who see suspicious activity in their neighbourhoods to contact Coffs Harbour police on 6652 0299 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

All information can be treated in the strictest confidence.
