A GOLD Coast mother and father spent last night by their critically injured baby's side after she was run over in the family's driveway on Sunday.

Seventeen-month-old Taya Parker is in Brisbane's Lady Cilento Children's Hospital, with her parents Jayce and Jen maintaining a desperate vigal as she receives specialist care.

The little girl was hit by a reversing 4WD at the family's Burleigh Waters home about 4pm on Sunday.

"At this stage we are investigating an infant child who has been run over in the driveway at an address on Burleigh Street," Senior Sergeant Angelique Maloney told reporters.

"The child is in a critical condition with life-threatening injuries.
